Add to your actors' toolbox for scenes, stage plays and film work! Meisner defines acting as “Living truthfully under imaginary circumstances”. Learn action and reaction, the pinch and the ouch, and other techniques to connect an actor with the present moment on camera and onstage. This is an acting technique which can thrive in the online environment. While learning and practicing remotely, we will be focused on being present and working off each other.
“Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what, next or how. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.”
SATURDAYS 10-11:30 am
Students will create their own fantastic puppets using paper, cardboard, fabric, string, wire, tape, glue, buttons, sticks, tubes, found objects and things from the natural world.
What do you have in your house that could be transformed into a puppet and given a personality? Animals, people, trees, flowers, stars, super heroes, space creatures, magicians, and clowns are just a few possibilities.
The workshop will culminate in a wonderful and surprising performance for friends and family. Each student will have a chance to develop their skills as a visual artist, grow as an actor and stretch their imagination.
Puppetry is one of the oldest and most popular art forms and a great way for young people to experiment with voices, emotions, self-expression, theater magic and humor. Don’t miss the fun!
SATURDAYS 1-3 PM
Radio drama has been a big part of popular culture for many years, and now in the current digital age, it's spreading everywhere! In SFYT's Radio Drama class, we'll explore time-honored techniques of radio drama at the same time we create stories that reflect our lives today. Students will create original characters that inhabit a fictional town (that may resemble the one you live in). During the class, students will develop their skills in voice acting, script writing, sound design and more!
