GRADES 6-12
SFYT Middle and High School students embark on training of the body, mind and voice, along with audition skills and scene work. Skill building is followed by full-scale productions. SFYT's 415 Teen Ensemble builds a strong sense of community with productions that focus on social justice issues. Sliding Scale tuition ALWAYS available. No student is turned away for lack of funds. Select 'Financial Aid Deposit' at check out. WINTER 2020 SHE KILLS DRAGONS by Qui Nguyen A blend of fantasy, drama, comedy, and plenty of stage combat! She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes discovers Tilly's "Dungeons and Dragons" notebook, she finds herself on a journey of discovery and adventure. Join us for this extragavant production which will feature an exploration of D & D. We'll perform and a beautiful and professional venue, Potrero Stage. GRADES 6-10 ACTING IS BELIEVING with Leslie Price STAGEWERX THEATER Acting is Believing explores techniques of acting through theatrical games, movement exercises, voice development, storytelling, improvisation and scene work. Students grow their creative skills and acting technique. This class prepares students who wish to participate in SFYT's full-scale teen ensemble production in winter/spring 2020. Choosing and Preparing Audition Materials: students will learn how to choose appropriate material with which to audition and prepare one or two monologues in different styles. Improvisation and Interviewing: students will learn to work collaboratively in a group audition, as well as gain interview skills to present with poise and confidence. The Audition Process: students will hone their audition materials and be given opportunities to perform in front of others.
